(Editor's Rating: B+)       The Marpac SleepMate 980A white noise machine may be simple in design and functionality, but it effectively creates white noise perfect for sleeping. 

There are no additional sound fields found in other higher-end units, but a high/low switch and adjustable side vents allow for sound variations within the white noise spectrum. The unit drowns out most low level voice or street noise and allows for continuous sleep for yourself or your child under less than silent sleeping conditions.
